Moving? Have no fear, I have just what you need! The only tips you'll need to make your moving experience less of a headache. We just moved and let me tell you, I have no doubt that these tips are the reason I was able to stay sane.
1. Defrost, defrost, defrost!
Don't forget to defrost, clean, and dry your refrigerator at least 24-48 hours before moving day. This will prevent stinky smells and water trails throughout your new home.
2. Bag it!
Put your clothes hanging in garbage bag. This will save you time when putting things in their place without having to re-hanger every thing first.
3. Overnight bag
Pack a bag for your first night. if you have a busy schedule, be sure to pack enough for a few nights. Your bag should include medications, bed linens, hygiene products, snacks, and cleaning supplies as well as personal items for each family member.
4. Screws and bolts
Bag and label all your screws and things from your furniture. I recommend putting them in your overnight bag so they don't get misplaced in a box that isn't a priority to unpack right away. You can also tape the bag to the furniture it belongs to.
Moving doesn't have to complicated. Seriously, these are the only tips that were really useful to me. There were a lot of great ideas, but they really didn't provide any real help. For example, using storage bins for seasonal items... I'm sure most of us already have a bin filled with Christmas decorations or Halloween decorations. This really wouldn't benefit you as a moving tip, because it's apart of your everyday organization. You guys moving will always be a headache unless you hire movers, but these four small tips are sure to ease the pain if only a little.
