Teething Problems

Teething problems? I'm sorry to say I can't really offer to much advice. Our youngest is 9 months and although he does have one tooth, we haven't had any problems. Teething has been a breeze so far. Not to brag, but we've only experienced 1 day and 1 night of teething horror. He ran a fever all night long and was so restless. Could you blame him? We alternated Motrin and Little Remedies fever and pain medicine and gave him teething tablets. The next day, our problems were over. We continued the tablets because they seemed to help with his itchy gums. Besides the extra poopy diapers, this stage has been a breeze. I'm sure our next child will be an absolute nightmare. Haha.

Though I can't offer any personal advice, I researched some remedies for you guys that may help.

  1. Amber Teething Necklaces - an old co-worker was raving about about these things and how much they help. She misplaced her little ones and hunt for a new almost immediately.
  2. Hyland's Teething Tablets- It's a homeopathic remedy. This is what we used. Immediate relief. Also the reviews on this stuff are really good.
  3. Camilia Teething Medicine- Another homeopathic remedy. It's an all natural teething remedy that comes in liquid form.
  4. A cold wash cloth- several readers mentioned a chilled wet wash cloth.  We have since tried it, and it really does help
  5. Cold raw carrot- Apparently you can give you child a carrot to gnaw on and it helps. I found many parents talking about this... plus your baby's teeth are strong enough to bite through so its safe
  6. Nuby Silicone Teether with Bristles- it's basically a little teething ring with silicone bristles. Our little one actually has one of these and he seems to like it just fine.
  7. Baby Oragel- It's the #1 recommended teething brand used by pediatricians.  It is an instant relief gel.
  8. Gripe Water- Gripe water is a home remedy known to help with teething pain.  There are several different kinds out there, and all have slightly different ingredients.
  9. Cold celery sticks- I didn't know celery was a natural pain killer I then researched it found out that it has been used as a pain killer since 30 AD.

Facebook Fan Page

Since I first decided to go on this blogging journey. I've created drafts upon drafts of material to post, a Facebook fan page set up, and even a YouTube channel. I've even published a few posts on my blog site. Great, right? Wrong. I haven't asked any of my Facebook friends to like the page and I don't have a single video posted to my channel. The only thing stopping from doing either is, well, me. I just can't seem to work up the nerve.

Here's the problem. I've been trying to figure out a way to do these things anonymously. I didn't want anyone to see that I'm the one inviting them and I didn't want anyone seeing my face all over YouTube. Why? I have no idea. All I know is every time I think about doing it, my chest gets tight and heart rate increases.

Nevertheless, it had to be done. My fiancé decided he'd be the one to get the ball rolling. He went on an inviting frenzy and made a public Facebook post about it TAGGING ME. I was semi ok with all the invites but totally against tagging me in the post. He knew I'd freak out and I was on my way to completely losing it, but then he started saying,

"2 people liked it."
"10 people liked it."
"We got a share."

People we're really liking the page it only had my one little tiny recipe post on there. After a while someone else posted a recipe to the page as well! You guys I was so excited. In one hour the page had 100+ likes. How awesome is that? It may be small in the blogging world, but for me it's huge. I still haven't don't have the courage to invite people on my friends list, but in time I will.

Backtracking Madness

Have you ever felt as though you were getting nowhere? I mean just same old, same old almost ritualistic behavior. I did, we'll actually, I do. Everything seems to have come to standstill. A roadblock if you will.

I was so stressed out at work from working 12 hrs shifts and difficult people, that we decided it'd be best to take a break and stay at home. It really wasn't what I wanted to do, but like I said, it was best.
So there I was sitting at home upon the array of mess. Clothes here, clothes there. There were dishes from the night before and the bathroom smelled like the pee of little boys. The floors were sticky and needed to be mopped pronto... and I had to do it all by myself.

Of course, the plan was to get the house in order while taking time off from work, but I didn't expect to have of the housework thrown on me all at once. I thought he'd help out a little like he'd been doing until everything became manageable and THEN I'd take on the title as domestic homemaker (ugh). Boy, how I was wrong.
